No Snow.."Like at the present.."

 It started with quite the warnings last year.


 There was a stormy wind and a confluence of influence made certain that we would spend the night under a high wind and gale warning. 


As the wind picked up and daylight faded...our fate was sealed. 


The wind from the east across the farmers field, would come unabated, and carry with it - the snow which was falling and blowing freely - with reckless abandon... or so it would seem.

 

In the morning I would awake to a winter wonderland. February 2nd 2011 would be full of snow removal. John called and asked if I could assist them in an excavation, certainly.."From the looks of it I will be there in an hour..."  It took all of that hour to get there...

 

As I round the corner I see the height of the snow mother nature has left behind in her effort to bury us. It will literally be hours before any thought of leaving the driveway will be based in reality, but then where would you go? First order of the day, secure a doorway exit for the neighbors. Screen doors piled four feet high with snow were impassable.

   

The view West is looking as pretty as a Vermont Winter Wonderland, but this is not Vermont and the snow squalls are impressive. The silence was amazing.

 Not one of us was spared, some time during the night the plows were called back to the barn to stand down until the wind died down. The high plow rows and 8 plus inches in the street tell the story.

 Looking North at the end of the "Snow event" we can see single lane possibilities. The "Upwind" side of the road would not be passable for two days.

 The County sends in the troops. Look at the height of the snow being pushed by this "10 Wheeler!"

 The day after, heading home from the office - this two lane ramp is still snow covered
