Coffee Time

Oh gosh, today... I really did not get anything "photo" accomplished. Having said that, while I toil and have trouble with an inherited Windows XP machine... I contemplate how art imitates life, or is it life imitates art?  I am reminded of this as I peruse photo's on my jump drive, while waiting for the 100th reboot of the "New Old" machine I have on the floor next to me. I am writing this on a windows 2000 machine, gulp. (Living on borrowed time) As I flip thru the photo's I see Patrick sipping his latte. It's an Aunt and Uncle  routine he participates in every morning we are together in San Francisco.

As we enjoy the morning start up, just a very short walk from our hotel - I see the scene unfolding literally right next to me. We have all been together a few days at this point and my camera has become just a part of the scenery. His interest in the warm sweet happiness under his nose far outweighs any negative a shutterbug uncle might cause with his camera... and then it happens.

There is the sound of the camera taking an image -"Click" - and life imitates art.

I am pretty sure I caught the image I anticipated. I recall I may have influenced him to slow down his approach. I believe he is very focused on the beautiful design he is about to sip into his mouth, I am not even a distraction.

Another re boot and I come across this gem from
a recent morning walking around a local lake.

It's an image I have altered making it a little more artsy.

"Artsy Fartsy," one of my siblings always says (correctly identifying) shots taken along these lines. The sun angle and the water make the silhouettes rather striking. It's a version of my interest in reflection shots, they are sprinkled thru-out my photo albums.

I find both of these images striking and they stir something up inside me, I can't place it - Not exactly... It's that thing I follow out the door before dawn, often alone.

Probably just the happy circumstance when Life and Art imitate each other.

It's great to experience these moments, and wonderful to "re-live" them as I see the images I have captured along the way. And as Brother Jim has said to me many times before, "You know this is here - we can come back..."

I leave you with one more for the road.... It's a classic - we can go back there. Shot from the St Louis Bridge - Hotel De Ville - Paris France. About 1 in the morning on our day of arrival. Call it our second wind, it's a classic reflection shot. I will pause my typing now.... "for  reflection."
